Far right terror threat warning as stats reveal alerts have doubled in Scotland | 57FJGPC | 2024-05-01 06:08:01
THE threat of far-right terrorism in Scotland is "very real and growing" — with alerts doubling in two years.
The Prevent programme, aiming to safeguard people from terrorist involvement, said 26 were at high risk of influence from such ideology in 2022-23.
Far right terror threat warning as stats reveal alerts have doubled in ScotlandJames Farrell was locked up after admitting to online terrorism offences and joining a far-right group
Referrals rose from 12 in 2020-21.
Three individuals were flagged as being at risk of Islamist ideology, according to a PoliceScotland report, while 15 were categorised as "mixed, unstable or unclear".
From that, 44 people were deemed serious enough to be raised to the higher level
And dangerously, almost a third of those flagged as needing intervention were under 15 – translating to 12 kids with at least two referrals from primary-school age children.
However, it's not made clear in the report which ideology the youngsters were being associated with.
A spokesman for anti-fascist group Hope Not Hate said: "This should be a wake-up call to the Government. There must be a strategy to tackle the very real and growing threat of far-right extremism."
Sam Imrie, 26, was jailed in 2019 after posting online that he planned to set fire to Fife Islamic Centre.
Last year, James Farrell, 33, of Glasgow, was caged after admitting joining a far-right group and online terrorist offences.
Farrell joined Oaken Hearth sharing racist and neo-Nazi views with other bigots.
The 32 year-old's photos and comments included him claiming 'n*****s" were "sub-human" and also later stating: "It is about time someone firebombed a synagogue."
The ex-security guard went on to post a link to a clip on the making of "The Ultimate DIY machine pistol".
Farrell ended being held by police at his family home in Priesthill, Glasgow, following a large-scale probe into the Oaken Hearth group.
He helped get himself caught as being a member as a photo of a right wing book he had earlier posted had his dog in the background.
Farrell later stated he thought the gun clip was "edgy and cool".
The first offender pleaded guilty at the High Court in Glasgow to a charge under the Terrorism Act.
Commenting on the report, Police Scotland Assistant Chief Constable David Duncan said: "Police Scotland is focused on working in partnership to protect our communities by continuing to deliver the Prevent Strategy.
"The multi-agency approach, which promotes early intervention, will help safeguard those individuals who have been identified as susceptible to radicalisation and being drawn into terrorism or violent extremism.
"We remain committed to building strong partnerships with communities and other stakeholders to address the underlying causes fuelling radicalisation."
A Scottish Government spokesperson said: "Ministers are committed to building inclusive, resilient and safe communities, and the Scottish Government works closely with partners across the UK to prevent and tackle the threat posed by all forms of extremism."

Gaming subscription prices rise but players have found a cheeky way around it | 993F296 | 2024-04-30 15:08:02
WE'VE all been affected by rising prices both in and out of gaming, so people are looking for ways to save money where they can.
The latest game subscription price change is a significant increase over the old price, almost doubling the charge for some subscribers.
Gaming subscription prices rise but players have found a cheeky way around itEA SportsEA is best known for its huge library of sports games[/caption]
EA Play is a subscription service for titles published by EA Games, best known for its huge library of sports games.
The list of games includes a huge number of popular sports series, such as EA Sports FC, F1, and Madden.
However, EA Games has many games from different genres on the list, including NFS Unbound, Lost in Random, and the Mass Effect Legendary Collection.
Gaming subscriptions used to be mostly for consoles, with people signing up for Xbox Game Pass, PS Plus, or Nintendo Switch Online depending on which console they own.
Now a number of publishers like EA Games and Ubisoft also have their own subscription services, though players seem more hesitant to sign up to these.
This isn't helped by EA Games' recent price hike making the service far less affordable.
Here are the price increases depending on the length of your subscription.
EA Play 1 Month was £3.99 / $4.99, now £5.99 / $5.99
EA Play 12 Months was £19.99 / $29.99, now £35.99 / $39.99
However, players have found a way to get around this huge price increase.
While EA Play is rising in price, the cost of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which includes EA Play, remains the same.
This includes both Game Pass for Console and PC, so you can use it either way you play.
I love old-school RPGs and a new release hit me in the nostalgia | 993F296 | 2024-04-30 15:08:02
SUIKODEN is one of the best JRPG series, but it had its heyday back when the PS One was king.
Eiyuden Chronicle is the spiritual successor to the Suikoden series and it almost lives up to its incredible legacy.
I love old-school RPGs and a new release hit me in the nostalgiaRabbit & Bear StudiosEiyuden Chronicle is perfect for old-school gamers[/caption]
More than anything, Eiyuden Chronicle is a tribute to the fans, and a new entry to the series in everything but name.
It offers a fresh take on the Suikoden games, while offering everything that gave the classics such a huge fanbase.
You're a young commoner that is given the task of building a resistance farce to fight against an imperial army with crooked nobles.
As the name Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes suggests, you can recruit up to 100 people to take part in turn-based battles.
These come in three types: your traditional combat, duels, and wars. It also has other traditional Suikoden features like base-building, minigames and a virtual economy.
You might have 100 people in your army, but you can only take up to six characters in traditional battles, though large allies will take up more than one slot.
This means you can make good synergies within your team by adding heroes who buff, heal and deal physical or magical damage.
Every character has their use, and you'll find that missing a piece of the puzzle will significantly reduce your chances of success.
Then you need to consider who sits in the front or back row based on how much damage they take and deal, and it adds a further tactical layer.
Some won't like the way Eiyuden Chronicle approaches random encounters, where even basic fights can be a grind.
However, you can auto-battle these and save your strength for the gruelling boss fights.
The focus – as with all Suikoden games – is on building your base and your army, and this is where it shines.
You collect resources as you travel, and different partners will use specific skills to build up your base.
Wars play out like most strategy games where you build small units to take on the opposing army.
Then it switches things up again by introducing one-on-one duels for specific conflicts and rivalries.
The strength of having this huge amount of characters is that there are dozens of compelling ones, so everyone can find a favourite.
The minigames aren't as compelling as you'll remember from games like Suikoden 2, and the war battles are relatively simple when you have the strength in numbers.
Fans of Suikoden will certainly enjoy Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes as a worthy successor, but it may be a little inaccessible to modern players.

I love the games and the Fallout TV show blew all my expectations away | 993F296 | 2024-04-30 15:08:02
THE Last of Us opened up the world of video game stories to those who only watch TV, so it seems right that another post-apocalyptic series would try to take the crown of best video game adaptation.
Despite the similarity of the situations, those who have played both game series know the tone is completely different.
I love the games and the Fallout TV show blew all my expectations awayThe humans on the surface aren't what Lucy was expectingPrime Video
Even on console, The Last of Us is a dark drama about relationships and loneliness, while Fallout has a goofy sense of humour that carries over into the show.
Set in an alternate, retro-futuristic 1950s USA, the show begins with the dropping of a nuclear bomb on LA.
Then there's another, and a few more, and it works as a horrifying backdrop to American suburbia.
We fast forward a few hundred years, and humanity now lives entirely in underground vaults.
Lucy MacLean wanders out into the wasteland that is post-apocalyptic LA in search of her missing father, only to find that humans still live on the surface, in a way.
The humans left on the surface have morphed into immortal ghouls via the radiation, and have little humanity left.
Lucy's naivety to the horrors going on above ground works as a great entry point for the audience who are equally in the dark.
Instead of dark drama, the situation is played for laughs as shootouts are balanced out with jaunty '30s tunes.
There are still moments of horror though, from the brutal militarism of The Brotherhood of Steel, to a remorseless ghoul bounty hunter.
Aside from Lucy, Maximus of the Brotherhood, and The Ghoul round out our trio of protagonists all with intertwining stories.
Fallout shines in its execution, with line delivery that catches you off guard, and wacky situations that trip you up.
It's this marriage of the horrific with the hilarious that makes Fallout so endearing.
It can be gruesome at times, with the show not afraid to carve off a limb or split a head in two, but there's a lightness of touch that offsets the weighty themes of nuclear destruction.
Fallout also explores the world before the apocalypse, something that you don't see in the games.
Is Julia Fox entering her pop star era? | V0A9GS9 | 2024-04-30 14:08:01
SHE'S AN ACTOR, author, television host and style maven — and now it appears that Julia Fox is adding "singer" to her resume, as she teases an upcoming single titled: "Down The Drain".
The 34-year-old who broke out with her role in the critically-acclaimed 2019 film Uncut Gems before dominating tabloid headlines for her brief relationship with Kanye West, released a memoir last year of the same name — Down The Drain.
Fox first teased the song at the book launch in October of 2023, before reprising it months later at Charli XCX's Boiler Room warehouse rave in February of 2024.
Read on for what we know so far about Julia Fox's new song — and how she's entered her pop star era.
It appears that yes, Julia Fox is pivoting into music. On April 29, Fox posted what appears to be cover art for a single titled: "Down The Drain" on Instagram, captioning the post "
Is Julia Fox entering her pop star era? DOWN THE DRAIN
Is Julia Fox entering her pop star era?
Is Julia Fox entering her pop star era?05/03" — so it appears safe to say that the single will officially arrive on May 3. Although the release is new, the song itself is not — in fact, Fox seems to have been teasing it for some time now.
During the book launch event for Fox's Down The Drain memoir at New York's Metograph theatre on October 26 of last year, Fox treated the crowd to a surprise performance of an original song. Per Vulture, the song was made with producer and experimental composer Ben Draghi, and is "a slinky, woozy piece of self-referential pop with a witchy incantation of a chorus that goes, "I'm a bitch I'm a girl I'm a mother I'm a whore.'"
Four months later, on February 22, 2024, Fox reprised the song at British singer Charli XCX's Boiler Room set, performing solo in a black cut-out dress. Footage from Fox's performance during the evening went viral online, racking up millions of views.
It's a new pivot from Fox, but she's never been one to confine herself to a singular pursuit. "I never envisioned myself being in movies or doing anything I'm doing … I just go wherever the wind blows," she recently told Variety during a junket for her new fashion competition reality series, Omg Fashun, which she hosts alongside Zendaya's stylist, Law Roach.
Whether the single will lead to a full EP or album remains to be seen — but we'll be staying tuned, that's for sure.
The design was replicated for Zendaya's character in the film and has been worn by the actress during the press tour, while co-star Josh O'Connor wore a shirt version on the red carpet, and Anderson — who is responsible for the film's costumes – posed in one alongside director Luca Guadagnino as they promoted the film in Rome.
Now, Loewe has announced the launch of a line of 'I Told Ya' T-shirts and sweatshirts, which will no doubt be a sell-out success. The label has released both white and grey iterations of the style in lightweight cotton jersey, which are unisex, and will look excellent worn oversized with jeans and loafers all summer long.

Bitter love split, spats with sons & burning through her £50m fortune – how Britney Spears' life has gone into free fall | 93Z955M | 2024-04-30 13:08:01
IT was a court case that raged on for years, as #FreeBritney campaigners fought for pop superstar Britney Spears to be released from a legal arrangement that gave her little power over her own life.
But two and a half years after she was freed from her 13-year conservatorship, which had given her father Jamie control over her personal life and finances, there are major questions over whether throwing her back into the deep end of life without any help was the right thing to do.

Bitter love split, spats with sons & burning through her £50m fortune – how Britney Spears' life has gone into free fallAlamyFans wave #FreeBritney placards but sources say the singer has no one looking out her now[/caption]
Since November 2021, the Toxic singer has been hit by disaster after disaster and things have gone from bad to worse.
Britney, 42, married third husband, actor Sam Asghari, 30, in June 2022, after they began dating in 2016.
But they split 13 months later amid allegations she attacked him as he slept and left him with a black eye and bite marks.
Then her sons Preston, 18, and Jayden, 17, moved to Hawaii with their dad Kevin Federline, 46, and publicly begged their mum to stop stripping off and dancing in videos posted on Instagram.
The pop favourite, who has sold more than 150million records, is now living an increasingly "dysfunctional and isolated" life according to sources in the US.
And there are concerns she is burning through her £50million fortune, splashing her cash on eye-wateringly expensive luxury holidays.
Yesterday, US gossip website TMZ claimed she has been spending millions of dollars on regular trips to French Polynesia every couple of months, blowing the money on private jets, luxury hotels and staff.
Then there have also been monthly trips to Hawaii, costing £280k a pop, where she stays in the presidential suite at the Four Seasons.
A source said: "There is no one looking after Britney.
"Her life is in freefall.
<!--End ofBrightcovePlayer-->
"She has no focus and no one is telling her that she is at risk of flittering away all of the earnings she worked so hard for.
"She is living like there's no tomorrow."
There were allegations of financial mismanagement during her conservatorship.
She was forced to perform several lucrative tours and Las Vegas residencies, released four albums, appeared as a judge on the X Factor USA and launched a string of products but despite her heavy workload, the numbers did not add up to the huge sum she should have earned, while her father was paid £12,000 per month.
But the source continued: "Her finances were so tightly watched when she was in the conservatorship.
"There were times when she had to ask her backing dancers to pay for dinner and she was basically given meagre pocket money from her own accounts.
"Now it's like she's gone from one extreme to the other.
"It's worrying to think what could happen in just a few short years if she blows through her fortune."
Although the conservatorship was legally terminated in 2021, only last week did the legal wrangle over the intricacies finally come to an end.
It was decided she would have to pay £3.2million in fees to her lawyer Mathew Rosengart and a further £1.6 million for her father's legal costs.
But an emotional Britney hit out at her dad Jamie, 71, and mum Lynne, 68, who she has also had a rocky relationship with, claiming they ought to face "justice".
In a post on her Instagram page on Sunday night, before she deactivated her account yesterday, she wrote: "There has been no justice and probably never will be!
"The way I was brought up I was always taught the formative of right and wrong but the very two people who brought me up with that method hurt me!
"I am so lucky to be here!
"It's funny 'cus till this very day I haven't told them face to face!
"I text through IG but I honestly believe it will not be so safe if I ever did go face to face!"
Her lawyer Mathew seems to be one of the only people acting in her best interests, after deciding it would be better to end the legal battle with Jamie.
The Sun's insider said: "Britney told Mathew that she wanted justice and her day in court with her dad.
"She urged him to push the case that Jamie effectively stole money from her, while running the estate as her conservator but he has strongly denied any wrongdoing.
"Jamie's lawyers have had the right to make Britney sit in front of them for depositions about many of these matters — and it would cost many more millions.
"If that had happened, she would have been filmed answering hours of questions about the darkest times in her life including drug problems, mental health woes and personal dramas.

Singer Britney won back control of her finances and personal life from dad Jamie[/caption]
"Mathew's focus has been protecting his client."
However, the source, based in Las Vegas and who has worked with Britney for many years, stated: "Jamie has pretty much had all his expenditures examined by the LA Superior Court and signed off by a judge.
"The overarching observation is that Jamie saved Britney's finances from ruin.
"She was at one point down to £2.5million and he helped her to rise up to more than £50million."
While Britney has struggled since the conservatorship was terminated, many are convinced it was how she was treated during the arrangement which did irreparable damage.
During interviews in the UK in 2016 during a press tour for her ninth album Glory, she appeared present and witty.
A few years later it was a different story.
In early 2019, she pulled out of a Las Vegas residency and announced an indefinite hiatus from music.

One of Britney's erratic and worrying social media posts[/caption]
It is believed to have been axed after she refused to take medication and she was carted off to a live-in rehabilitation centre, leading fans to question where she was, having not been pictured for months.
At that point, she was forcibly given lithium to treat her bipolar disorder, as well as a cocktail of other prescription medications.
Speaking in court in 2021, she said: "Lithium is a very, very strong and completely different medication compared to what I was used to.
"You can go mentally impaired if you take too much, if you stay on it longer than five months. But he put me on that, and I felt drunk."
In summer 2021, Jamie's lawyers made it clear that much of her private health information had been kept a secret from the public as he tried to protect her.
Documents filed in court said: "There is no doubt that the Conservatorship saved Ms Spears from disaster, supported her when she needed it the most, protected her and her reputation from harm, and facilitated the restoration of her career."
But now she is out on her own, she appears far more erratic and vulnerable, with distrust for the system which was supposed to look after her.

"Bianca's father Leo wants to have a proper sit down with Kanye and ask him what the hell he is thinking when he parades Bianca around like a trashy naked trophy pony," the source told the outlet.
"He wants to ask Kanye what he would do if his daughters, North or Chicago, were seen in public half-naked in outfits encouraged by their husbands."
